I started last August with my first class. This is my 2nd quilt :). I have the top and back ready for the sandwich - just need to get some batting this week. It is so NOT square - lol - but I don't care. I'm still learning and hopefully will get better - I am horrible with 1/4 inch seams even with a 1/4 inch foot - lol. I blink and it goes crooked. This is my first share of a WIP. Thanks for looking. OH this quilt is for my son. I'm calling its Gettysburg. I used 2 HOPE CHEST BATIKS by Edyta Sitar Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda Reproduction Fabric Collection hexagon charm packs for the main hexies and added fillers with Gettysburg Gettysburg Address and Gettysburg Battle Names by Kensington Studio fabrics to have enough hexies for a lap size quilt. The back which I'm not showing is made from Gettysburg Map by Kensington Studio. I don't remember the name of the fabric I purchased for the background.

Yes - My son and husband are Civil War buffs. This is a surprise for my son. He is almost 20 and in college so hopefully he will like it - lol. If not, Dad can have it to use.
I used the Visual Designs by Chris April Challenge Sketch to make the card. The monthly sketch files are created by I Scrap Designs. I also used I Scrap Designs IR00018_Easter_Egg_Hunt_with_grass.

I cut X piece, the oval rings and the small squares using the sketch file. The Easter sentiment and the small eggs were cut from the other file. The rest of the pieces were cut by hand.

Thanks for looking.
This was made with non-traditional colors. Another Card a Day blog challenge was Christmas Animal card. The penguin is here at VisualDesignsbyChris. The card layout was the Sept Sketch challenge there. I made the traditional color card for that challenge. See it below the one I made for Card a Day.
I'm hoping we'll have some white stuff sometime this winter. We don't get much.

Here are two more Christmas cards I'm posting for the Card a Day Blog Challenge. I have another one I'll post tomorrow. I realize last time that I'm not posting everything I've used to make my cards. I'll try to do better in the future. I made these two with the following...

Stampin' Up "The Sounding Joy" set
Taylored expressions - Musical Swirls impression plate
Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four
Star - KnK file designed myself
all paper - The Paper Studio Christmas stack
Color Box Chalk Ink for distressing
I like to sit in the evening and make cards as my relaxation while I watch TV. And Christmas cards are my favorite type to make. I got started last year around this time with Card A Day Blog when the challenges were for Christmas cards and it's that time of year again :-D. This is Card A Day Blog's first Christmas Card challenge. I made this card with scrap strips of Christmas paper. I added a tree charm from ACharmingPlace, which I decorated with white mini brads. Hope you like.
I'm using it for one of A Card a Day Blog's challenges. I combined 3 KNK files to make it. The Happy ghost is from Visual Designs by Chris (CD00592). The "Happy" is I Scrap Designs Happy Halloween Web Card (IR00249) and the "BOO!" belongs to Sam and Hailey Design's Itty Bitty Halloween Creeps (JB00195) file. All these can be found at VisualDesignsbyChris. I did the "thday" piece myself. Thanks for looking!
It's a Canadian Thanksgiving card. I used a cuddlebug embossing folder for the background of pumpkin and vines. I cut the leaves using Sam and Hailey Designs Itty Bitty Autumn Leaves file (JB00219) available at VisualDesignsbyChris. and SU! Last week was Autumn and I'm just getting around to it :). I made these two cards Tuesday, photographed them yesterday and put them in the mail today - YAY. I love it when I use them soon after making them.

The pumpkins on the cards have a story and here it is. I took them off a page layout I got either in a swap or a class. I had not used the layout yet. In June 2005 we were having our roof replaced and a huge thunderstorm blew in ... can you guess what happened? It rained inside our house - only part of it thankfully. Unfortunately, my craft room was one of the rooms that had the worse damage. The pumpkin layout got wet on top. The pumpkins were along the bottom so I saved them and finally used them this week - LOL. So I know they are at least 7 years old and probably older. Yes, I am a confessed scrapbook supply hoarder - bbahahaha. The butterfly Hi! is a 1997 Stampin Up! stamp.
I plan to use this for one of the many young ladies I know graduating from HS in June. I used Daisy Bucket Black Tie patterned paper to make the flower using Sam and Hailey Designs Dahlia Folded Flower file (JB00290). The black and white paper makes it look so formal. I cut the greeting from vinyl using my own design. I think the young lady I have in mind for this will like it :). Thanks for looking.
I cut the flower edges for a friend to use to make a Mother's day card. She couldn't decide what to do with them so I told her to move on and I'd use them later. And here are the results to use for one of Card a Day Blog's April Challenges. Hindsight - I wish I'd cut the second "Spring" from different color paper :).
I truly appreciate her volunteering to do it. She teaches High School full time, teaches 2 nights a week at the community college, is a wife and mother of 3 very active children. And she still volunteered to do it. She knows his history with chronic migraines and the struggles I've had with other teachers through the years. I wanted to cry when she told me she volunteered. This card is not enough. I need to come up with something else to do for her.

I used Carrie's Creations file CS00175 - School Value Pack from Paperthreads. I cut the school house mini album cover to use for a card. I used spider web paper on the inside and spider paper for the door background. Our school mascot is a spider :-). Instead of using the window that goes above the door I used our school name. Black and gold are the school colors.

I will also be posting this for the Card a Day blog monthly challenge. Thanks for looking.
Here are two we made. We used the Basic George Cricut cartridge. Mother's Day cards is one of the challenges this month on Card a Day blog.
My son is graduating this year so I have lots of cards to make. Friends at school and church are graduating. I made this card for a friend from school. I like to theme the cards for the college the graduate plans to attend. This young man won't be able to attend college :( so I themed it for our HS. We are the Concord Spiders and he is a Spider through and through! Our school colors are black and gold and now I wish I had used gold as the main base for the card but it still turned out nice.

I used two KNK files to make it. The card base is a gate fold card and is from Sam and Hailey Designs (file# JB00231). I used white card stock for the main base and some spider paper I have for the overlay. The "Congratulations" sentament is part of the file and you use your pen in the KNK to write it. The second file I used is from Beloved Keepsakes (file# BK00264). I just used the graduation cap from the file - there are many more pieces in it. I cut the cap from a scrap of spider web paper I have. If you are a Hunger Games fan you need to check out her files series on that topic.

I'm posting the card as part of the Card a Day March challenge. I think this is the last theme I needed to do a card for this month and it's the last day so I'm just making it :). THanks for looking.
I also used paper except for the frame from my November 2011 & January2012 Key Ingredients Kit of the Month from Taylored Expressions. The stamp is another stampin' up stamp. The charm is an old one I have from A Charming Place which is back in business.
Baby cards are the first for this month. Can't believe I actually need one - lol. In fact this is the 2nd baby card I've made in the last 4 weeks. I used my Klic-n-Kut to make this one.The card base and the 3-D butterfly are files by Shelly's Art. The card base is from this month's card sketch challenge on the Paperthreads forum and the 3-D butterfly file you can find in Shelly's store at Paperthreads. I used a misc piece of two sided card stock for the base and the solid elements on the card. The rest of the pieces were cut from paper I got in my Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients monthly kit. The gold shimmer is Stampin' Up's champagne mist shimmer paint and the "Hello Baby" is from Stampin' Up's Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

The picture is not the best :(. Had to take it under my Ott lamp since I need to take the card to work tomorrow. Thanks for looking.
Hope you'll come join them soon.

A friend who volunteers at several animal shelters in town asked me to make some cards for them to use. I ordered paper and a punch a while back and I'm finally making the cards. These are extra easy to
make. All you need is paper really. I used WE R Memories 6x6 Furry Friends paper stack and misc off white card stock for the base. I cut the blocks from the paper for the front pieces. THe bottom edge is a strip of the patterned paper in the stack. I cut it with my border punch but you could just add it without being punched. I selected another lighter color pattern from the stack, stamped "Thank You" then cut it out with my nestibilites. If you don't have a stamp, you can hand write it and cut it out with scissors or a cutter. Thanks for stopping by and looking. Think CHandra will like the cards ;-)?
One of the challenges this month is Valentine's cards. Here are two I made last night. These are very simple. I used a Sizzix embossing folder for the background of the card on the left then inked over the raised design. I added an embossed heart from the small set I got with my Cuddlebug. The card on the right is even more simple. I stamped Happy Valentine's Day (misc stamp I have) and cut it out with the Labels 4 Nestibilites set. I used the same paper for the background and popped up the sentiment. Thanks for visiting!

Card Challenge. I used the challenge file created by Auzzie Caz and added the Mary & Joseph from Jennie Bean Crafts Bauble file to it. The pattern paper is all scraps from the Basic Grey FruitCake line. I'm also going to use this for the December challenge at Card a Day blog. This is another good one for Christmas celebration. I forgot to mention in my last post that my floating Santa was for the Christmas and Children theme:).
When I saw Chris used this as her post at Card a Day Blog, I decided I had to share my version of it here and there too.
I made this for a challenge at Visual Designs by Chris. I used Chris' cutter file...CD00882 - Floating Santa, the free card template file for the challenge by AuzzeiCaz, and the Ho Ho Ho is from Sam and Hailey Designs file (also at Visual Designs by Chris)... JB00059 - Frame-a-Page Christmas Morning. I don't remember who makes the striped paper and the rest is probably Bazzil cardstock. I think Santa is so cute in this file. I'm giving this card to our Youth Minister and family...they will love Santa's silly looks:).

Thanks for looking and come over to Card a Day Blog and join the fun!!!
I made several at the same time and decided to not use this one on the Card a Day blog. But now this month the challenge is to go back and do any of the themes, so this one fits the Christmas and Animals theme from 2 months ago:). I hope to make a few more to post before the end of this month's Card a Day challenge but this week is very full.

Now the card... I used the free card template provided for the challenge at Paperthreads. Then I added Chris Moose from Michelle's Chris Moose File (WB00267). You can find it in the store at Paperthreads. The papers are all from my stash of Christmas paper and it is a huge stash! cus I love anything Christmas. The ornaments were cut from a piece a Christmas paper. Thanks for looking and come join the fun at Card a Day .
I used a free card template file from the Paperthreads.com Sept. card challenge. The papers are SEI Alpine, Bo Bunny and SU! They blended very well. The tag can be used as a bookmark or a gift tag later. This has been a fun month for me with the Card a Day blogspot challenges. I love Christmas and making Christmas cards :-). I really wish someone else would start doing the challenges besides me.
Here's the card I made for the Card a Day Blog theme of Shopping. I also used it for a challenge at Visual Designs by Chris. The round base was a free file for joining the VDBC challenge, then I added a Sam and Hailey Designs file (JB00062 - Gift Trio) to complete it. You can find both files in the VDBC Store . Thanks for stopping by.
Go check out their beautiful cards!
Here is mine. I used a SU! set called Around the World (it is the same set I used the snowmen from on my Home for the Holidays card. I finally found it's name). I colored the clothing with atyou Spica pens. The round Christmas stamp is a clear set I have and I have no clue of it's manufactor. I used my nestibilities to cut out the stamp image and the mat for it. I think the mat is SU! paper. The card base is ... oh man I can't remember. I've used it before so I'll have to look through my other posts to see if I remembered before - lol.

Thanks again ladies at Card a Day for all your inspiration!!
